Abstract
The purpose of this experimental study of 57 high school juniors and seniors was to measure the value of specific types of intrinsic and extrinsic motivational prompts on a standardized test. In spite of limitations, the research indicated that the relationship between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is complex and worthy of further study.
