Abstract
8. Carbon inventory of UMF’s Schwingmoor, Johnson Heights
Visit UMF’s 4.3 acre tract of land showcasing a hilltop peat bog surrounded by hemlock forest. We will share our estimates of carbon storage based on fieldwork this winter using ground penetrating radar (GPR).
Eve Fischer (Jesse Minor)
3-4pm, meet at the far end of Lot 26 (Parking Lot behind FRC)
9. Identifying the Tree People around the UMF campus
Did you ever want to be able to tell a beech from a birch, a sugar maple from a red maple, a spruce from a fir? Here’s your chance. You’ll learn some basics for identifying the common trees in this part of Maine and some cool natural history about these friends.
Drew Barton
3-4pm, meet in front of Mantor Library
